تواجه السينما العراقيه صعوبات منذ بداياتها والى اليوم رغم المحاولات المتكررة للنهوض بها . يبدو ان الفلم الوثائقي العراقي استعاد بعض ما فقدته السينما العراقيه جراء الحروب والقمع والحصار، فهناك الكثير من المخرجين الشباب ممن شارك في مهرجانات عالميه ونالوا الجوائز التقديرية على ابداعاتهم. نلتقي مع الفنان قاسم عبد في حوار عن التصوير والاخراج والانتاج وكيفية تدريسه للسينما في بغداد حاليا .

Kasim is a cameraman, director and producer of Iraqi origin. He was educated in Iraq (Institute of Arts) and Russia (Moscow Film Institute, VGIK), and has been living in London since 1982. He worked as a cameraman on many documentary films for Channel 4, the BBC and other British satellite TV stations. Kasim also teaches film and TV production in the United Kingdom, Jordan and Palestine. In 2003, in co-operation with his colleagues, he founded an Independent Film and TV College in Baghdad, where he conducts media training for young Iraqi filmmakers. In March 2005, Kasim was awarded the 2005 Award for Excellence in Arts by the British “The Muslim News” newspaper.
